The Westside Science Club (WSSC) is an out-of-school workshop program, founded in 2008, that brings engaging and hands-on science experiences to under-resourced young people, ages 8 to 16 years old. WSSC was established in partnership with the Venice Community Housing Corporation (VCHC), a non-profit affordable housing organization based in Venice, California. In 2014 a second chapter was started in Pasadena, CA at the non-public school of 5 Acres- The Boys’ and Girls’ Aid Society of LA County in collaboration with the Kidspace Children’s Museum.

Westside Science Club is committed to being community-centered, providing highly engaging science-based experiences to localized audiences and, most importantly, forging strong relationships with them. Science Club gives youth the opportunity to explore the natural world, becoming innovators and inventors while spurring creativity in an active environment. The Club is far from a classroom; it is a program where kids are encouraged to create their own experimental lab experiences, freely exploring their own projects, testing their ideas, trying new things and making new friends. Science Club invites kids to experience, invent and most importantly, have fun.
